Soil Testing

Assessing the condition of your garden or pasture is a critical step in maintaining soil condition and productivity. West Virginia University offers free soil analysis to residents.

While assessing your garden or pasture is critical, getting your soil tested is easy. You can pick up a Soil Test form at the Extension Office or you can print this form. Soil Test Form The instructions for obtaining a good sample is on the second page. Collect the soil sample per the instructions and place it in a sandwich size zip lock bag. Mail the sample to the Soil Test Lab in Morgantown, WV. Their address is West Virginia University, College of Agriculture & Forestry, Soil Testing Laboratory, Morgantown, WV, 26506-6108.

It normally takes 2-4 weeks to get the results. Please include your email address on the form and the results will be sent directly to your email.
